RUN AOTEAROA

  • MORNING RITUAL | 5km lake loop run, sauna and lake plunge

Run Aotearoa was born from a simple mission: to build a genuine community around the unfiltered love of NZ running. What started as a personal passion for James Smith has grown into a movement of nearly 40,000 members across the country. James created this space to foster support and connection, proving that the NZ running scene has a place for everyone—whether you’re a front-of-pack flyer or just finding your stride.

For Sauna Fest 26, we’re bringing that community spirit to the shores of Lake Tikitapu. Join James and his brother Paul on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7.30am for a social 5km loop around the stunning Blue Lake. We’ll be taking on a mix of road and light, flowing trail, making it the perfect stretch for all runners and abilities. It’s about the collective energy of the crew and the local scenery, not the time on your watch.

Once the miles are in, we’re heading straight to the lakeside for the ultimate runner’s recovery: a deep-heat sauna session, a crisp lake plunge, and a complementary replenishment hit of MNRL hydration.

    Days: Sat and Sun

    Time: 7.30am

Location: Meet at the steps to the Top10 reception (out front)  and we’ll head out from there!
