Sauna at Plimmerton Boat Club
We love traditional saunas. We love being in nature. We love sharing the experience with others, and doing it often. These values guide everything we do: accessibility, community, and quality.
Johan and Andrew were among our earliest partners, opening the Kāpiti location. They’ve since expanded to Wellington and have now taken on a more ambitious project at the Plimmerton Boat Club.
This new sauna marks a new chapter while staying true to our core values. It’s larger, comfortably fitting up to 15 people, and includes a warm room and changing area so guests can move seamlessly between sessions. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a smooth, high-quality experience.
At its heart is a state-of-the-art IKI fireplace, delivering an even heat with powerful steam and minimal temperature fluctuation. Unique features like a plunge bucket and curved bench seating add to the experience, offering both contrast and comfort.
This may be one of the most thoughtfully designed saunas in New Zealand, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.

A new space, made with intention
Every detail has been considered.
Cedar battens frame the changing area, adding warmth and texture on arrival, while 30 individual cubbies are seamlessly integrated so there is always space for your belongings. Inside, cedar and thermowood lining create a refined, warm feel. Soft lighting guides the way, with subtle glow set behind the backrest enhancing the atmosphere.
The layout is designed for flow, making entry and exit smooth and effortless. Whether you want to swim in the ocean, take a cold shower, or use the plunge bucket, there are contrast options for everyone.
The Plimmerton Boating Club
Set on the edge of one of the most scenic stretches of coastline, the Plimmerton Boat Club is a well loved hub for the local community. With a long standing connection to the water, it brings together sailing, social gatherings, and relaxed coastal living in one place.
Food and drinks are available from the café and bar, The Jetty, offering an easy place to relax and take in the view before or after a sauna.
Spacious, open, and right on the shoreline, it is a setting that naturally invites you to settle in and stay a while.
